Ah, the Wait.....

It looks like our plans for TTC this next cycle will have to be postponed. Our midwife friend came over the other day to get her hair colored (I once was a hairdresser) and as we were talking about how I was feeling, when we would be ready to try again... all that stuff, I told her we were planning for next cycle... and then she dropped the bomb. (I think she was secretly hoping we would say not quite yet, so she didn't have to tell me) She is going on a 10day cruise to Alaska during the time I will be due next year. AAAAHHHHH...Waaaahhhh.

I immediately got out a wheel and we started looking at dates. If we tried this next cycle she would be leaving when I am 41wks. Neither my mother or sister had any of their babies before 42 wks, so that makes me a little nervous and seeing as this is our first baby chances are... I will go into labor in my 41st week. I was hoping to go a little earlier than that, but sure as shit if we do this- this cycle- my body will wait until she is gone and I'll be so sad. Way too much stress. I think in some ways, with one's energy, it is easier to keep labor away than to bring it on. So if we wait until the next-next cycle, she will be gone from my 36+6 until 38+3. I know that sounds risky but I just can't imagine me going into labor before 39wks. Lord, are you listening?

So that is the plan, we will wait this cycle out, instead of the three week wait, now it is seven weeks away. God help us pass the time. Maybe we can borrow a couple kids for a few weeks, if we promise to return them :-)

I Love Weddings

Our friends Denise and Kimmy got married! You couldn't ask for a better day or place to be married. I love coastal weddings. The weather, the water, and sun at dusk were all radiant....just like the brides! Kimmy asked God for good weather and some kind of sign to be shown during the wedding to show God's blessing. I will tell you the love and friendship that was present along with the dragonflies circling during the ceremony were incredible. There had to be at least 50 dragonflies...I have never seen so many of them at one time before. It was in deed a pouring out of God's blessing and the "sign" she prayed for. My camera died so I only have a few pics, but hopefully you'll see what I mean when you see the sunset pic....and of course the radiant brides!

Beach Getaway

We are back. We had so much fun. Our first day we got up and rode our beach cruisers for a 10 mile ride. The weather was gorgeous...hot, but a nice breeze. I had told our friends that we were going with, that everyone had to bring white shirts and either blue jeans or khakis. My plan was for us to have pics taken at the beach....I am not a professional photographer, but I had seen enough beach scene pics to at least tell them what to wear. The pics came out nice, but note to self...take at sundown not in the middle of the freakin day. We shopped....we ate...we drank...we ate some more...I swear I have gained another 10 pounds. This group loves to eat out. We're on vacation I kept reminding myself.

So now it's back to work. Ali had AF while on vacation...that's great news in the TTC land. We have one more cycle to go through and then.......back to swim, swim, swim.

Weekend Fun!

We were off to Daytona to visit Ali's family for the weekend, especially her dad. He had a heart attack a week ago. He looked really good and was in good spirits. He is such a great storyteller and this time he told us stories of the "good ol' days". I love to sit with him and listen as he tells stories of his mother and how great a musician she was. She played many gigs back in the day. Ali's family is very musically talented. Her father plays the piano strictly by ear. It amazes me. Her brother has written songs for artists and has a poem published in the National Library Of Poems. This was many years ago...but something to be very proud of. Ok I'll stop boasting now..sorry honey.

Here is the reason we are all smiles....Ali's goddaughter had a baby and she is so beautiful. She is 11 weeks old. We didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked, but we did get pictures. I love sharing pics..

And one more story....After the devastation of our miscarriage, Ali's sister got a new dog for her son Miles. Her name is Callie and she is part yorkie and poodle. Well, this little creature has brought an overwhelming amount of comfort and joy to us both. God works in mysterious ways and we are forever grateful for that little puppy...you know I have a picture of her...she is soooooo cute!

Back to School

As much as I love kids...I am sooooo glad they are back in school. I work in pediatric dentistry and though we are busy...the summer brings on a whole new busy for us, no to mention parents wanting us to cram one more child in the last week of school. WHEEEEW...everyone...all 400+ patients we saw last week..have SMILING FACES WITH HAPPY TEETH! Now some down time...what to do with down time? VACATION? Yessss! Ali and I, with a few of our wonderful friends, are off in a couple of weeks to Seaside FL. If you have ever seen the movie The Truman Show it was filmed in Seaside. It is a cluster of small coastal towns along 30A with brightly colored bungalows..great shopping...and good eats. That's exactly where you go for down time. We both need some R+R. And Replenish Our Souls. We are hoping and praying to be back on the TTC road come the end of Oct. first of Nov. Keep us in your prayers.

Here is a link for anyone who may want to vacation in Seaside http://www.seasidefl.com/

Doctor's Appointment

We had our follow up appointment today. Our Dr. said all looked fine and Ali's uterus was nice and strong. She said we could start trying again in 3 months......seems like forever... Our wonderful friend and midwife has since moved offices, so this visit was sad in two ways. One.. the grief of losing a baby and two...not being able to continue the journey at the current office. We absolutely love the office where we were today...their concepts and beliefs are important to us, as is our midwife. So as we struggle with following her/or staying where we are, our obvious reason is to to go..(she is a dear friend and has been on this year long journey with us)...we are sadden by our loss of a wonderful caring Dr. and staff. We hope that when we get pregnant again....and it becomes time to deliver....we hope they are both on call.....

Trying to get back to normal

It was a good week all in all. I was concerned for Ali since last week she returned back to work. How extremely hard to go to a place where you are birthing life everyday and mourning the loss of your own. Only a close few of her co-workers knew. She was waiting for her 12th week to tell them. I on the other hand, could not keep a secret and blurted the minute we found out "POSITIVE"! I pray for her peace and comfort. She's a wonderful nurse, a beautiful person, and will be an incredible mom.

Healing after a miscarriage

We originally had our post w/wordpress, but have found this site to be much easier. We are healing after the loss of our baby. We would have been 12 weeks today. Ali has taken this sooo hard. I feel helpless in not knowing what she needs from me right now. We both grieve so differently. I like to be surrounded by the people I love, she on the other hand likes to crawl up and hide. Is it ok that we grieve differently? How can we both grieve and not feel like we're hurting the other one's feelings? Just the thought of getting back on the ttc train seems exhausting. It took one full year for us to finally conceive. The bright side...at least we know we can get pregnant.

I must say....Life is good...God is good...friends and family are good!

To all our friends who were on this journey and are feeling this loss too, we thank you for your prayers, support, and unconditional love. Thank you to the blogs we love to read....who remind us everyday of why it is all worth the wait...even through tragedy.
